IMPHAL, Oct 29: Although the State level Kut festival of the Kuki-Chin-Mizo-Zomi communities is scheduled on November 1, Saikul celebrated Kut festival today at the block level.
The celebration held at Saikul block ground was graced by Kuki Inpi Manipur president Thangkhosei Haokip, Singhat A/C MLA Ginsuanhao Zou and Saikul A/C MLA Yamthong Haokip as presidium members.
Speaking at the occasion, Ginsuanhao Zou exuded confidence that Chin, Kuki, Mizo and Zomi communities would one day stand united even if they are apparently going separate ways these days.
Many applications have been received from different quarters to celebrate Kut festival on December 1. People need not overlook that Kut festival is celebrated on November 1 with the State Government declaring the day as State holiday since the past many years, asserted MLA Ginsuanhao who is also chairman of the State level Kut celebration committee.
Yamthong Haokip lamented that around 100 villages of Saikul sub-division were affected while demarcating police jurisdiction. If this is not corrected immediately, all these villages would fall within valley districts.
Saying that the Government would agree to bring back these villages within the police jurisdiction of their respective districts, Yamthong underscored the importance of unity among the villagers.
